(If you are new, start withhistory of program here.)

IT’S FINALLY TIME FOR

LIGHT ‘EM UP 2012

STEP 1.

PRINT THISFAMILY PLAN

STEP 2.

PRINT THE100 LIGHT ‘EM UP IDEAS

It has the 50 ideas from last year including surprise sidewalk chalk greetings on neighor’s driveway to treats and posters of gratitude for garbage collectors to paying for someon’s Starbucks AND 50 new ideas including coffee to someone working in a cold parking garage, thank you note and candy through the bank teller shoot and sneaking in to put post it notes all over pastor’s office to say THANKS.

STEP 3.

PRINTiMOM PLANNER

This toolis the perfect way to narrow down the 100 ideas

and choose the few your family will implement. Fantastic tool – thank you iMOM!

Susan MerrillofiMOMhas blown me away with her support of this program.

We have such similar hearts for God and our kids. What a friend.

STEP 4.

PRINT PRECIOUSGIFT TAGS

Oh this will be your favorite.

Don’t know what to say? These tags communicate what’s in their hearts. They can walk up and say “Merry Christmas” with edible smiles and leave strangers awestruck with a lasting message. It hasSEVERAL pagesincluding my favorite candy cane tags from last year.

STEP 5.

PRINTCOLORING SHEETS

A quick fun option for the itty bittys that want so badly to be involved.

They can show their love through these masterpieces.

Tree.Gifts.

STEP 6.

TEACHERS,PRINT CLASSROOM IDEAS

Judy from Kindertastichas a great blog for Kindergarten teachers. Last year, she took the Light ‘Em Up idea and applied it for her classroom. She said even at the end of the year, she STILL had kids picking up trash for each other. Thanks Judy for the great idea and for inspiring so many teachers! Any classroom can take this idea and run! All the links take you to her site to get this printable document. And she had a baby YESTERDAY, ahem, mutli-tasking rock star!

STEP 7.

PRINTLOGOS(OPTIONAL)

A few of you asked for a page of Light ‘Em Up logos for your jars and other cute ideas.

STEP 8.

CAPTURE AND SHARE

Take photos for your own memories and then upload for inspiration.

You never know how your friends and families and neighborhoods will get inspired.

Feel free to add a photo directly to theLil Light O’ Mine Facebook page– don’t forget caption and the story. Or, “SHARE” thisLil Light O’ Mine 2012 Photo Albumto cast the vision for friends. And, you can email me photos to courtney(at)lillightomine(dot)com for possible inclusion in the album (time/space limitations).

Just simply upload a photo and use hashtag #lightemup12. Then, when you want to see what’s happening, you just search “lightemup12” and see how goodness moves through a country.

STEP 9.

SPREAD THE WORD

Does the potential of this across our country make anyone else a little teary?

Let’s just go nuts, together! Some ideas:

1.

PLANNING PLAYDATES

My BFF is hosting a playdate with her buds in Atlanta. Moms share ideas and kids work on coloring cards, making cookies and assembling bags.

2.

START A GROUP

One friend from college is starting a local Facebook group so they can plan ideas and TOGETHER impact their community. Brilliant!

3.

TAP INTO RELATIONSHIPS

Ask retailers to donate materials or any media friends (newspaper, newsletters, tv, etc.) to help spread the word.

ONE KIND REQUEST!

Please, pretty please, keep the downloadable PDFs (ideas, gift tags, etc.) on this site. Feel free to share and link to ANY blog posts about the program – this one, or theBack Story of the Program.

Don’t forget to send those posts to me so I can cheer you on!

STEP 10.

NOTES/TIPS

If you get a group, consider contacting your local church and ministries to find out urgent needs. Candy and cookies are cute, but often toothpaste and towels are their greatest need.

I did ask mail carriers, garbage collectors and policemen their wishes. They said, “ANYTHING is more than we’d ever expect – but a gift card would be extremely useful for our families and so appreciated.” Just food for thought.

Don’t forget to be sneaky and anonymous when possible. Whenever we get the credit or glory, we get further away from true service and generosity.

THIS IS FOR ALL!!!

Singles, grandmothers, dads, anyone!

Please know that my world is being a mom, but this is for anyone out there that can use it. Enjoy!

Let’s LIGHT ‘EM UP!!!

Email me stories along the way at courtney(at)LilLightomine(dot)com

You are covered in prayer by many people.

I truly believe God will show up

and intersect your family with people that need love

this year and all year long.

What a GIFT to our Savior born on Christmas Day!

I believe loving and serving his people

is the perfect gift to put under the tree for Him.

KEEP CHECKING BLOG:

I will add ideas tomorrow on fun ways to display the ideas with your family – from Advent Calendars to jars.

I’ve got some pretty exciting bloggers and authors lined up to share wisdom and stories from their Light ‘Em Up experiences over the next month!
