Here are the SVG files that I used for this project:

You can use whatever Christmas themed SVG files that you like, or you can even make your own! Since I was in a bit of a hurry and on a budget for this project I decided to use some free files that you can find online.

Remember, these are only free for personal use. If you are looking to make projects that you are going to sell you need to purchase a commercial license for these files which you can do at the links below.

How to make this DIY Christmas gift Cricut project:

Let’s dive in and see how easy this DIY Cricut project is to make! If you have any questions be sure to leave them below and I’ll do my best to make sure you can make these adorable DIY pot holders with ease.

This is a Cricut tutorial for beginners–anyone can achieve beautiful end results with these easy cut files and a DIY Christmas gift idea! When working with Cricut projects to make handmade gifts, be sure to take your time and double check each step so your DIY projects will come out perfect!

  1. Measure the pocket on the pot holder so you know how to size the design. I usually size them down by about 1/2 to 1 full inch all the way around so that it will fit into place without any issues.
  2. Choose your designs and upload them to Cricut Design Space. If you need help navigating design space you can check out this tutorial.
  3. Size your design and decide what colors you are going to use. I did all of mine in solid colors to make it easier to mix and match my projects. If you have a lot of colors in small pieces (scraps) they might be great for this kind of project!
  4. Cut your designs (make sure to mirror your design since it’s HTV we’re working with) and weed them, preheat your Cricut EasyPress 2 while you are weeding your designs.
  5. After the press is warm you are ready to press the designs onto your pot holders.
  6. I use the Cricut EasyPress Mat which provides a heat protected surface and it also provides a little resistance for your press. With the pot holders this is important, pressing the vinyl down hard enough to get it into the fibers of the material is key.
  7. After the first press you can remove the plastic HTV film and repress with a piece of parchment or a teflon sheet.
  8. Once cooled your designs are ready to be gifted!

What can I fill these DIY Cricut pot holders with?

Once you make these adorable DIY Christmas gifts you can fill them with fun items that go great with a baking or cooking theme. Many people put cooking mixes, spatulas, whisks, wooden spoons, and more into the front pouch.

The pot holder acts as a gift wrapping in and of itself. The pouch can be stuffed with treats, kitchen tools, and more. You can fill the pot holder with whatever you like, including a little note wishing the recipient a happy holidays!
